Suggested Workflow
- Start with the main profitability reports to see whether a job is performing as expected.
- Use advanced sales, purchases, and expense reports to explain the result.
- Use Expenses Not Assigned to Jobs if totals look incomplete or understated.
- Use job-group reports when management reviews similar projects together.
- Use consignment profitability only when the business runs consignment projects.
Best Practice
- Tag transactions to the correct job at the time of entry.
- Use summary reports for management meetings and detailed reports for investigation.
- Review unassigned expenses regularly so jobs are not understated.
- Keep the same date range across job reports when comparing performance.
Important: Advanced job reports are only reliable when sales, purchases, expenses, and other activity are consistently linked to the correct job or project.
