Suggested Workflow

  1. Start with the main profitability reports to see whether a job is performing as expected.
  2. Use advanced sales, purchases, and expense reports to explain the result.
  3. Use Expenses Not Assigned to Jobs if totals look incomplete or understated.
  4. Use job-group reports when management reviews similar projects together.
  5. Use consignment profitability only when the business runs consignment projects.

Best Practice

  • Tag transactions to the correct job at the time of entry.
  • Use summary reports for management meetings and detailed reports for investigation.
  • Review unassigned expenses regularly so jobs are not understated.
  • Keep the same date range across job reports when comparing performance.
