Overview
Tab Path: Configurations > Backup > Auto Backup / Backup Schedule
QBM supports backup scheduling where the environment allows it. The goal is to move from one-off protection to a repeatable routine.
Not every workstation or edition will offer the same scheduling options, so users should understand that scheduled backup is typically a main-environment task.
Main Screens
| Screen | Tab Path | Use It For |
|---|---|---|
| Auto Backup | Configurations > Backup > Auto Backup | Review or manage automatic backup behavior. |
| Backup Schedule | Configurations > Backup > Backup Schedule | Create or maintain scheduled backup definitions. |
| Backup Schedule List | Configurations > Backup > Backup Schedule List | Review existing backup schedules. |
How It Works
- A schedule extends backup protection beyond manual runs.
- The scheduling flow should be handled by the people responsible for the server or primary environment where backups are expected to run.
- Scheduling should never replace occasional manual verification that the backup output is still being created successfully.
Recommended Workflow
- Run a successful manual backup first so the path and permissions are understood.
- Open the backup scheduling screen and create the routine according to company policy.
- Review the schedule from the list screen and confirm its name, target company, and timing are clear.
- Check the resulting backup files periodically to ensure the schedule is actually producing usable backups.
Best Practice
- Keep schedule ownership clear so someone is accountable for monitoring it.
- Use meaningful schedule names tied to the company or database.
- Do not assume a schedule is healthy forever without periodic checks.
