Overview
Tab Path: Utilities > Email Server Options
QBM includes an email server setup screen for businesses that want QBM to send email directly instead of relying only on the default desktop email client.
This guide is based on the actual Email Server Options dialog and its visible user-facing fields.
Main Screens
| Screen | Tab Path | Use It For |
|---|---|---|
| Email Server Options | ||
| Utilities > Email Server Options | ||
| Maintain the server details used for QBM email sending. |
Important Fields And Controls
| Field Or Control | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Email Server Address | The mail server address. The screen tooltip gives an example such as mail.yourdomainname.com. |
| User ID | The login ID used for the email server connection. |
| Password | The password for the email server user. |
| Port | The communication port used by the mail server. |
| Save Password | Stores the password for later use if your company allows that practice. |
How It Works
- These settings are used when QBM sends email through its own configured server path.
- If users prefer the default desktop mail client, this setup may be less central, but it is still useful for controlled in-app sending.
- Wrong server details can stop QBM from sending messages even when the rest of the email screen looks correct.
Recommended Workflow
- Open Email Server Options.
- Enter the email server address, user ID, password, and port supplied by your email administrator or provider.
- Decide whether the password should be stored in the system.
- Save the settings and test them through a simple email-sending workflow.
Best Practice
- Confirm the server details with your administrator before saving them.
- Use a controlled test email after any change.
- Only save the password when your company policy allows it.
- If users mainly send through the default email client, explain the difference clearly to support staff.
