Overview
Tab Path: Utilities > Excel Import
Excel import is useful when the source information already lives in a spreadsheet format and should be brought into QBM without retyping.
The quality of the workbook structure makes a major difference to the success of the import.

How It Works
- Users should prepare the workbook before import by keeping columns consistent and removing obvious blank or duplicate noise.
- The import process works best when each column has a clear business meaning and the workbook is not overloaded with formatting-only content.
Recommended Workflow
- Prepare the workbook so the columns are clean and consistently filled.
- Open the Excel Import tool and select the correct workbook or worksheet.
- Review the column structure and any mapping choices that QBM presents.
- Run a cautious first import and check the results before repeating at larger scale.
Best Practice
- Keep one row format per data type.
- Avoid merged cells, decorative headings, and irregular blank lines in import ranges.
- Preserve a copy of the original workbook before editing it for import.
