Overview
This guide covers the field-services report currently available in the report source. It is useful when operations or management need to review job costing by department rather than only by total project result.
Module note: This guide is relevant only if your company uses field-services or department-based service costing.
Report Covered
| Report | Use It For |
|---|---|
| Job Costing by Department Report | Review job-related cost grouped by department so management can understand which internal area is carrying the cost of delivery. |
Common Filters
| Field Or Option | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Job | Focus the report on one service job or review across jobs. |
| Date / Date Range | Select the operating period being reviewed. |
Suggested Workflow
- Select the job that management wants to review.
- Apply the relevant date range for the service period.
- Run the report and review which department is carrying the cost.
- Use the result together with broader job profitability reports when management needs a full project picture.
Best Practice
- Use this report when total job cost is not enough and management wants departmental accountability.
- Review the same date range in related job reports when comparing totals.
- Keep departmental posting or classification consistent, or the report will lose value.
Important: If costs are posted without the correct department or job reference, the report will not reflect true operational responsibility.
