Overview
Tab Path: Utilities > Import Data
QBM includes general-purpose import tools for bringing outside data into the system.
The import workflow should be approached carefully because it affects master records and operational consistency.
Main Screens
| Screen | Tab Path | Use It For |
|---|---|---|
| Import Data | Utilities > Import Data | Choose the import route and start the import process. |
| Excel and CSV | Utilities > Excel and CSV | Move into the spreadsheet-based import tools when needed. |
How It Works
- Imports are best handled in a staged way: prepare the source data, choose the right import tool, review the structure, and only then commit the import.
- The general import screen is the starting point for deciding which import path fits the source file and the data type.
Recommended Workflow
- Prepare the source data outside QBM and remove obvious duplicates or formatting issues.
- Open Import Data and choose the correct import route.
- Review the file, columns, and mapping logic before committing the import.
- Test the results on a small sample or a safe dataset before doing a larger run when possible.
Best Practice
- Clean the source file before import instead of fixing every problem afterward.
- Import in manageable batches when the data is new or high risk.
- Keep a backup before large migration work.
