Held receipts are useful when a sale needs to pause temporarily, for example while the customer continues shopping, changes payment method, or needs additional items reviewed.

Cashiers usually open Held Receipts when they need to resume a paused sale.

Note: Held receipts should be reviewed regularly so old unfinished sales do not remain in the queue longer than necessary.

How It Works

A POS receipt can be held instead of completed immediately. Later, the cashier can reopen it, continue editing it, and then finish the sale normally.

  • Holding a receipt pauses the sale but keeps the current item selection.
  • Recalled receipts should be reviewed before final payment.
  • Old held receipts should be cleaned up according to store policy.

  1. Open Held Receipts in POS.
  2. Find the paused receipt using the available reference or timing clues.
  3. Reopen the receipt and review the items and totals.
  4. Continue the sale and complete payment normally.
  5. Remove or clear outdated held receipts according to company policy if needed.

  • Use clear store rules for how long held receipts should remain available.
  • Review the receipt carefully before completion, especially if it was held a while ago.
