Overview
Production work orders help the business control what is being built, where it is being produced, for which job if relevant, and by when it is required.
Where To Find It
Path: Inventory > Manufacturing > Production Work Order
Use the production work order screen when items must be produced, assembled, or tracked through a planned build process.
How It Works
QBM stores a work-order number, date, location, related job, target item, quantity, required date, and status so the production activity can be planned and reviewed properly.
Main Areas
| Area | What It Means | When To Use It |
|---|---|---|
| Header details | Includes number, date, location, and related job context. | Use it to identify the work order clearly and link it to the right operational area. |
| Item and quantity | Defines what is being produced and how much is required. | Use it when planning the production task itself. |
| Required date and status | Supports time control and progress tracking. | Use it when managing what is pending, active, or complete. |
Recommended Workflow
- Create the work order and review the default number and date.
- Select the correct location and related job if one applies.
- Choose the item being produced and enter the required quantity.
- Set the required date and current status.
- Save the work order and use the related production or inventory processes to complete the build.
Best Practice
- Use realistic required dates so work-order follow-up remains useful.
- Review the location carefully because production and stock impact depend on it.
- Keep work-order status current so supervisors can trust the queue.
