Promotions Sales End-User Guide

Overview

Once promotions are set up correctly, QBM can apply them automatically in sales documents. The user’s job is usually to confirm that the right promotion is active, that the right items are on the sale, and that the result is correct.

Common Promotion Examples

  • Buy 3 of the same item and get 1 free.
  • Buy 2 of one item and get a different item free.
  • Get 10% off a selected item or category.
  • Get a fixed amount off when a minimum price rule is met.

Daily Use

  1. Confirm the promotion is active and within the correct date range.
  2. Enter or scan the qualifying items in the sales document.
  3. Check whether the expected discount or free item appears.
  4. Review totals before saving the transaction.
Tip: If the promotion depends on customer, category, or minimum price, make sure those conditions are present in the transaction.

Testing And Validation

When a new promotion is created, test it in a sample sale before relying on it in live work.

  • Try the exact quantity that should qualify.
  • Try one quantity below the threshold.
  • Try one quantity above the threshold.
  • Check that the cheapest or correct eligible reward item is used where applicable.

Troubleshooting

If a promotion does not apply:
  • Check the active dates.
  • Check whether the promotion is marked active.
  • Check applicability by item, category, or customer.
  • Check minimum price and quantity requirements.
  • Check whether another promotion with a stronger priority is taking effect first.
