Projects & Jobs Project Inventory End-User Guide

Overview

Transferring items to a job helps the business link material usage to the correct project or service activity.

Where To Find It

Path: Jobs > Transfer Items to Job

Use this screen when stock or materials are being assigned from a store to a specific job.

How It Works

QBM records the date, source store, target job, and the items and quantities being moved. Where relevant, users can also work with serial or lot information as part of the transfer.

Main Areas

Area What It Means When To Use It
Top section Captures the transfer date, source store, and target job. Use it so the movement is clearly tied to the right place and the right job.
Item lines Holds the items, descriptions, quantities, and units being transferred. Use it to build the transfer accurately before saving.
Serials or lots Supports more detailed stock tracking when controlled items are involved. Use it when the transferred item is tracked by serial or lot.

Recommended Workflow

  1. Open the transfer screen and set the date, source store, and target job.
  2. Add the required items and quantities.
  3. Review units and item descriptions for correctness.
  4. Complete any serial or lot selection if the item requires it.
  5. Save the transfer and review the job inventory impact if needed.

Best Practice

  • Choose the correct job before adding many lines so rework is avoided.
  • Check quantities carefully because job material issues affect both stock and job costing.
  • Use serial or lot tracking consistently when the product type requires it.
