Add Module Maintenance Guide

Use this guide when QBM support or sales provides a module key that adds licensed functionality to the current company or installation.

What This Command Does

Add Module saves a licensed module key in QBM. After the key is accepted, QBM refreshes the module menus so the licensed functionality can appear where applicable.

A module key is different from a normal user password. It is supplied by QBM and controls licensed functionality.

Where To Find It

Menu path: Help > Maintenance > Add Module...

The screen title is Module Key.

Before You Start

  1. Open the company database. QBM enables the OK button only when it is connected to a database.
  2. Use the exact key supplied by QBM. Do not type guessed or copied keys from another customer.
  3. Confirm the module belongs to this installation. Some modules are edition-specific or client-specific.
  4. Keep the key private. Treat it like license information.

Screen Fields

Field What It Means How To Use It
Key, first box The first five characters of the module key. Type the first part exactly as supplied. QBM converts it to uppercase.
Key, second box The second five characters of the module key. Type the second part exactly as supplied. The full key is stored as first part, hyphen, second part.
OK Saves the module key. Click after both five-character parts are entered.
Cancel Closes the screen without saving. Use when the key is not ready or you opened the screen by mistake.

How To Add A Module

  1. Open the company. Make sure QBM is connected to the correct company database.
  2. Open the command. Go to Help > Maintenance > Add Module...
  3. Enter the module key. Type the first five characters in the first box and the second five characters in the second box.
  4. Click OK. QBM saves the key if it is valid for the current environment.
  5. Check menus. QBM refreshes module menus after a successful save.

After Adding A Module

  • Check whether the related menu or screen is now visible.
  • Restart QBM if support says the module needs a fresh login.
  • Review user group permissions if the module is visible to administrators but not to other users.
  • Keep a record of the module key and activation date in the customer's license file.

Troubleshooting

Situation Meaning Action
OK is disabled QBM is not connected to a company database. Open the correct company database first, then try again.
Key is rejected The key may be incomplete, invalid, for another module, or not allowed for this edition/client. Retype carefully and contact QBM support with the key source and customer details.
Module menu does not appear The module may need restart, activation, or user permission changes. Restart QBM, check Activate Modules when visible, and review security group access.
