Overview
Connection property screens store technical connection details needed by some transfer workflows. They are technical, but end users and administrators can still follow them when they know the server details.
Where To Find It
Path: Utilities / Backup / Email setup > Connection properties
Access depends on the module, company setup, and security permissions assigned to the user.
How It Works
Users open the connection settings from the relevant workflow, enter the server, login, path, and related options supplied by their administrator or provider, then test or save the connection as required.
Main Areas
| Area | What It Means | When To Use It |
|---|---|---|
| Selection | Identifies the record, option, or item being maintained. | Use it before entering or changing details. |
| Details | Stores the values that control how the feature works. | Use it when creating, updating, or reviewing setup information. |
| Save and review | Applies the change so QBM can use it in transactions or lookup screens. | Use it after confirming the values are correct. |
Recommended Workflow
- Open the connection properties screen from the workflow that requires it.
- Enter the server, path, account, and security details supplied by your administrator or provider.
- Review the values carefully before saving.
- Test the related backup, email, import, export, or transfer workflow if available.
- Update stored details when the provider or server information changes.
Best Practice
- Get connection values from the responsible IT or provider contact.
- Avoid guessing passwords, ports, or URLs.
- Retest the workflow after changing connection properties.
