Overview
Job types help the business classify work consistently. This improves job creation, user understanding, and project-related reporting.
Where To Find It
Path: Projects or Jobs > Job Type Detail
Use the job type screen when defining the categories of jobs your company uses and when deciding whether a type is active or includes consignment behavior.
How It Works
Each job type stores a name, note, active or inactive status, and where relevant a consignment setting with a related percentage. Users then select the appropriate type when creating a job.
Main Areas
| Area | What It Means | When To Use It |
|---|---|---|
| Name and note | Gives the type a clear label and optional explanation. | Use it so job creators understand which type to choose. |
| Active or inactive | Controls whether the type remains available for new job selection. | Use it when older types should no longer be chosen. |
| Consignment setting | Supports special behavior where consignment-based jobs are used. | Use it only when the business actually operates that way. |
Recommended Workflow
- Create the job type with a clear name.
- Add a short note if users may need extra guidance.
- Turn on consignment only when it is genuinely required for that type.
- Mark older or unused types inactive instead of deleting history-linked structures.
Best Practice
- Keep the number of job types practical and easy to understand.
- Avoid creating multiple types that mean almost the same thing.
- Review inactive status carefully so staff cannot choose outdated types by mistake.
