QBM Installer prepares the selected QBM package on the computer you are working on. It can install a new package, update an existing package, save the current program files before replacing them, restore the last installer-managed backup, and run approved repair checks.
Where To Find It
| From QBM Installer | Open Help, then choose User Guides. |
|---|---|
| From QBM Help Center | Open the Help Center and search for QBM Installer. |
| When offline | Use the guide bundled with the installed QBM Installer package. |
The guide is for installation and maintenance of QBM program packages. It is not a replacement for company backup, database restore, user setup, accounting setup, or daily QBM entry work.
Before You Begin
- Close QBM on the computer being installed or updated.
- For shared environments, ask users to exit QBM before updating QBM Server or shared services.
- Use a Windows user allowed to install software and approve administrator prompts.
- Confirm the customer has a current company backup before major updates.
- Save current installation before installing starts off. Turn it on only when support wants an installer-managed program-file backup.
- Use only the approved QBM Installer download from the official QBM source or support team.
- Keep internet access available while the installer downloads or checks approved packages.
- For server work, confirm the server computer name and database instance name before installing.
License And Disclaimer
QBM is provided under the QBM End User License Agreement. Review the EULA from the installer before installing or updating, and continue only if the terms are approved.
| Where to review the EULA | In QBM Installer, open View EULA from the license agreement area before installation. |
|---|---|
| What acceptance means | Checking the acceptance box means the EULA and installer disclaimer were reviewed and accepted for the selected installation action. |
| When to stop | Do not continue if you are not authorized, users are still working in QBM, the computer is not the correct target, or a current backup is not available. |
Install QBM Trial With One Click
Install QBM Trial is the guided choice for a new user who wants QBM Client and QBM Server on the same computer without setting each package or connection separately.
- Open QBM Installer on the computer that will run the trial.
- Review and accept the QBM license agreement and installer disclaimer.
- Check Install QBM Trial to reveal the optional trial setup section, then read its status.
- If no SQL Server instance is found, the installer will install SQL Server Express automatically. The SQL administrator user is sa and the trial password is sa1.
- If SQL Server is already installed, select the instance QBM should use. The installer will not download or upgrade SQL Server and will not change its existing administrator password.
- Click Install QBM Trial once and approve administrator permission when Windows asks. The required packages are downloaded and installed one at a time.
- Wait for the success message. QBM Client and QBM Server connection settings are saved automatically for the selected local instance.
Installation Options
The installer groups available choices by purpose. Select the option that matches the role of the current computer.

Install a single-computer retail setup
- Select QBM Retail when the shop uses one computer and does not need a separate server computer.
- Accept the EULA and installer disclaimer, turn on the backup option only if support asks for an installer-managed program-file backup, and install.
- Open the retail workflow and confirm the expected company and store setup before daily use.

- Use QBM Complete when one computer should host the main QBM application, QBM Server, and QBMWServices together.
- Review the database service choice, instance name, and any administrator password prompt shown by the installer.

- Do not cancel or close the installer while files are being replaced.
- After success, open QBM and confirm a normal login and one common workflow.
QBM Server And Database Service
QBM Server is the shared service used when multiple computers need access to the same company data. Server work should be done first and should be coordinated with users.
| Installer Area | Meaning | Recommended Action |
|---|---|---|
| QBM Server | Installs or updates the shared QBM Server package. | Use on the server computer before installing or updating client computers. |
| SQL Server Express 2022 | Database service option for QBM Server. | Use when this is the approved database version for the customer environment. |
| SQL Server Express 2025 | Newer database service option for QBM Server. | Read the upgrade confirmation carefully if an older matching instance is already installed. |
| Instance name | Name used by QBM when connecting to the database service. | Use the default unless the customer already has an approved different name. |
| Administrator password prompt | Password for the database administrator account shown by the installer. | Enter it carefully, confirm it, keep it secure, and manage it according to the customer policy. |
| Stop QBM Server | Stops the running server service when it may block a server update. | Use only when all users are out and the installer shows the button. |
QBM Connection Settings
Configure QBM Connection helps save the connection details QBM uses on the computer. It is optional and does not block installation.
The guided QBM Trial saves its local client-to-server connection automatically. Use the manual button only for normal packages or a connection that support asks you to change.
- Click Configure QBM Connection after selecting the relevant package.
- Enter or confirm Name, Instance Name, Server, Port, and Active.
- Use the same server and instance details approved for the company.
- Save the settings.
- Open QBM and confirm the connection appears or works as expected.
| Name | Friendly name shown to the user, such as the branch or company connection name. |
|---|---|
| Instance Name | Database instance name used by QBM Server. |
| Server | Computer name or address where QBM Server is installed. |
| Port | Connection port approved for the company environment. Use the installer default unless support instructs otherwise. |
| Active | Marks the connection as available for normal use. |
Backup And Revert
The installer can save the current package files before installing an update. This gives support a controlled way to restore the last installer-managed program backup if the update must be rolled back.
Backup before install
- The option starts off by default for normal installs and updates.
- If selected, it saves program files for the selected package before replacing them.
- It does not replace a company database backup.
- When it stays off, ZIP packages still download, extract to a temporary installer folder, and copy into the target install folder automatically.
Revert last installation
- Open QBM Installer.
- Select the same package that needs rollback.
- Click Revert last installation.
- Approve the confirmation only when support confirms rollback is appropriate.
- Wait until the restore completes.
- If QBM Server is involved, wait for the server restart to finish before users log in.
Diagnose And Repair
Diagnose and Repair checks the selected package and may offer approved repair actions. It is intended for safe installer-owned problems, not for changing customer data.
- Select the package with the problem.
- Click Diagnose and Repair.
- Review the findings and read any confirmation message.
- Allow repair only when the action matches the issue or support instructions.
- Send the result and log path to support if the issue continues.
