QBM Connection Settings

The Configure QBM Connection button helps save the server connection details used by QBM on the computer. This is optional and does not block installation.

  1. Click Configure QBM Connection after selecting the relevant package.
  2. Enter or confirm the connection name, server name, instance name, port, and active status.
  3. Use the same server and instance details approved for the company.
  4. Save the settings.
  5. Open QBM and confirm the connection appears or works as expected.
FieldWhat It MeansBest Practice

ServerThe computer or address where QBM Server is installed.Use the server name provided by support or the customer's administrator.
Instance NameThe database instance used by QBM Server.Use the same name selected during server setup.
PortThe QBM Server connection port.Use the default shown by the installer unless support instructs otherwise.
ActiveMarks the connection as available for use.Keep active for the normal company connection.

Backup And Revert

The installer can save the current QBM package folder before installing an update. This gives support a way to restore the last installer-managed package folder if the update needs to be rolled back.

Backup Before Install

  • The option is selected by default for normal installs and updates.
  • It saves program files for the selected package before replacing them.
  • It does not replace a proper company database backup.
  • It should stay selected unless support gives a reason to turn it off.

Revert Last Installation

  1. Open QBM Installer.
  2. Select the same package that needs rollback.
  3. Click Revert last installation.
  4. Approve the confirmation only when support confirms the rollback is appropriate.
  5. Wait for the restore to finish.
  6. If QBM Server is involved, wait for the server restart to complete before users log in.
Important: Revert restores installer-managed program files. It does not roll back database changes, company data, transactions, or accounting setup. Always use the correct QBM database backup and restore process for company data.

Diagnose And Repair

Diagnose and Repair checks the selected package and may offer approved repair actions. It is useful when support needs to confirm package state, missing files, stale shortcuts, service status, or installer-managed package problems.

  1. Select the package that has the problem.
  2. Click Diagnose and Repair.
  3. Review the findings.
  4. If the installer asks for confirmation before repair, read the action first.
  5. Allow only repair actions that match support instructions.
  6. Send the repair result and log path to support if the issue continues.
Repair limit: repair is for installer-managed package problems. It does not correct wrong company data, wrong accounting entries, user permissions, product-key issues, or database content problems.
